Short Story...

We have a Golden Retriever mama that gave birth the day after Thanksgiving.  With only one puppy she didn't have enough hormones for her body to kick into mama gear.  She rejected her baby.  Truffles stepped up to the plate with her 5 day old puppies and willingly took Toby in as her baby.  This should be interesting because Truffles is quite little at 19#'s.  The puppy will quickly outgrown the other babies.  He may have to get transferred to the next Golden mama in about a week or so. For now... we are grateful Truffles has opened her heart to this baby. ❤️

For those of you following this story....The pack has grown.  We were hoping to move Toby to another Golden mama that was due to have her litter on 11/30.  Per the ultrasound from the vet at 4.5 weeks into her pregnancy she was only suppose to have 6 babies.  Fast forward to whelp day and she whelped a litter of 10.  We were rotating puppies every 45 minutes and there was no way to transfer Toby to her.  In fact we ran into extreme complications and had to transfer two of her baby girls to Truffles.  So Truffles little litter of 2 is now 5. ❤️
